Wayne County's Summer Youth Employment Program provides 6 weeks of paid internships within County departments. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and reside within Wayne County, among other qualifying factors.
If you are 16-21 years old and live in Wayne County, you can:
- Gain real-world work experience
- Intern for six weeks during the summer (2025: June 17-July 25)
- Earn $12/hour by interning 20 hours per week
- Gain local government, financial, and workplace training

SYEP High School Tours: Beginning in March
Applications open: April 1, 2025
Informational session for students and parents: April 2, 2025 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Wayne County Library in Goldsboro (1001 E Ash St, Goldsboro, NC 27530)
Application Deadline: April 30, 2025
Interviews will be conducted: May 23, 2025
Orientation: June 17, 2025
The week of 4th of July is OFF
