Paid Holidays

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners approves paid holidays on an annual basis. See 2025 Approved Holidays and 2026 Approved Holidays.

Leave Donations

  • Person-to-Person Vacation Leave Sharing: Employees may receive up to 240 hours of shared leave, provided they have exhausted all other leave. The giving employee must retain 40 hours of leave unless they are separating from employment. Person-to-Person Leave Donation
  • Leave Bank Donations: To donate leave to the leave bank, use this form: Leave Bank Donation Form 
        • All leave donations will be made from and to vacation accruals.
  • Leave Bank Use: To request the use of the Leave Bank, please use this form: Leave Bank Use Request. *Please note that approval of Leave Bank use depends on each department's internal policy for leave use. Use of the Leave Bank is a privilege that may be denied by department administration. 

Leave Without Pay

  • Department timekeepers, supervisors, or directors must notify HR & Payroll when LWOP occurs by completing the Leave Without Pay Form 

FMLA

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides qualifying employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. FMLA is designed to help employees balance their work and family responsibilities by allowing them to take reasonable protected leave for certain family and medical reasons.   •  Family Leave Employees who are eligible for FMLA may also be eligible for paid family leave. Details can be found in the Wayne County Personnel Policy.
