Public Swimming Pool Inspections

The Environmental Health Department is responsible for permitting and inspecting all public swimming pools in the county.

Inspection Procedures
The inspection evaluates water quality, water chemistry, main drains/suction hazards, lifesaving equipment, proper warning signs, etc. These inspections are conducted at the beginning of the season and once during the operating season.

Seasonal pools operate from April 1 - October 31. These pools are permitted once a year and inspected at least once during the season. Year-round (indoor pools) are permitted once per year and inspected at least twice per year.

All public swimming pools are required to submit an application every year and pay $150 fee. Also, all public swimming pools are required to have a certified operator that is responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of the pool.
