Annual Solid Waste Amnesty Day This Weekend
Wayne County, NC – The Wayne County Solid Waste Department will be hosting their annual Amnesty Day at the landfill on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Amnesty Day occurs on an annual basis and waives the normal tipping fee for all county residents. This does not apply to commercial businesses and waste haulers.
Amnesty Day benefits those who want to throw away wood, bricks, limbs, stumps and other construction debris, all of which the landfill accepts but with a fee. Furniture, white goods, and tires are already accepted at the landfill for free. Hazardous waste or liquids are never accepted and Amnesty Day is no exception. Amnesty Day is a project to encourage citizens to clean up roadways and yards making the County of Wayne a cleaner place to live, work and play.
For questions regarding Amnesty Day, residents can call the Wayne County Landfill at 919-689-2994.
