[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Vaccine Update 2/18/21

Vaccine Update

As of February 17, 2021, the Wayne County Health Department has administered 5,994  first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, 1,960 second doses, and has 7,115 individuals on our waiting list. Severe weather across the country has delayed our shipment of vaccine doses this week and we were forced to re-schedule a portion of our second dose appointments. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is working with the federal government to provide shipping updates to health departments across the state as the situation evolves. As soon as our shipment arrives, we will resume first and second dose vaccinations at the former Bussman Building.

As we look forward to the next vaccination phases, County leadership is working closely with Wayne County Public School leadership to develop a plan for vaccinating our teachers. At this time, we still have individuals in Phase 1 and Phase 2 who have not received a vaccine and these two groups remain a priority as more individuals become eligible in Phase 3.

As we navigate through the ever-changing vaccination phases, we ask for your continued patience and understanding while we work to vaccinate residents as quickly as possible with limited doses available. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine, visit www.waynegov.com/vaccine.
