Effects of Bullying

Adolescents who are bullied experience a variety of issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Changes in sleep and eating patterns
  • Health complaints
  • Decreased academic achievement

Adolescents who bully others are also more likely to be at risk for many issues including:

  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Getting into fights, vandalizing property, and drop out of school
  • Engaging in early sexual activity
  • Having a criminal conviction as an adult
  • Being abusive towards their romantic partner or children as adults
