Commissioner Gurley was elected to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners in November 2020 as the commissioner for District 5.
Chris is a lifelong resident of Wayne County and attended Charles B. Aycock High school and Wayne Community College. He is a licensed landscape contractor and irrigation contractor in North Carolina and started Turf Master Goldsboro in 1987.
Chris has served in the volunteer fire service since 1984 and is a strong advocate for volunteer departments. He was the chief at Belfast Fire Department and served on the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association and Wayne County Firemen’s Association boards.
Chris is married to Michelle and has three girls, Morgan, Caroline, and Madison.
