Definition
A Strip of permanent vegetation established at the edge or around the perimeter ofa field
Purpose
- Reduce erosion from wind and water
- Soil and water quality protection
- Management of harmful insect populations
- Provide wildlife food and coverage
Criteria
Establish a field border to adapt to species of permanent grass, legumes, & shrubs. Species must be compatible with a planned purpose.
Minimum field border widths are 10’ and field borders will be established around the field edges to meet the resource needs & producer objectives.
