UCC Information
A UCC is a security agreement that is recorded to protect the secured party's investment. In a security agreement, a loan of money is secured by collateral, thereby giving the lender rights in the property. Effective July 1, 2001, several changes became effective regarding UCC filings. Only fixture filings are accepted in the Register of Deeds. A UCC fixture filing relates to items that are attached to or become part of real estate. All non-fixture filings must be filed with the Secretary of State in North Carolina. UCC Filings Changes Please note the following changes affecting UCC filings as of July 1, 2001:
