STD Clinic

Teens who think they may have acquired a sexually transmitted disease or infection and wish to be screened, can contact the health department to schedule an appointment. All services are free and confidential.


  • Symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases include:
  • Unusual discharge or odor from the vagina or penis
  • Sores, bumps, blisters, itching or swelling of  the genitals, rectum or mouth
  • Vaginal bleeding  that is from not your period
  • Pain during sex
  • Burning and pain while urinating or having a bowel movement
  • Swelling or redness of the throat
  • The urge to urinate often
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, body aches)


If you experience any of these symptoms, stop engaging in sexual activity and make an appointment to get screened. To schedule an appointment with the Wayne County Health Department’s STD Clinic, please call (919) 731-1005 between the hours of 11:00 and 12:00 or 4:00 and 5:00 and ask to speak to the STD nurse. Appointments are 7:15A - 5:45P, Monday – Thursday. You may also choose to be seen by your physician.
